In this article I will be discussing the use of online poker tools, what they are, how they are used, and whether you can benefit from them or not.
The first question on your mind is surely, ‘What exactly are online poker tools?’. Well they are software programs that you can use to help improve your game or give you an edge and are, mainly, legal to use. There are three main types:
Online poker tools #1 The assistant.
The assistant is basically an odds calculator. It will tell you the relative strength of your hand based on how many people have folded, it will tell you what the odds are of you getting certain hands and what the chances are for your opposition. Some even go further than that and suggest what you should do in a hand based on the odds. One of my favourite online poker tools.
Online poker tools #2 The tracker.
Knowing your opponents is crucial in poker, but with so much going on then you cannot possibly keep an eye out and analyse them at the same time. This is where the tracker steps in, this will track the bets and the cards (where possible) that your opponent had over the course of a tournament. Some will then automatically class your opponents as aggressive or passive and comment more on their playing style. Some online poker tools also allow sophisticated analysis and the ability to play a virtual hand as if you had made a different decision (to aid your learning). The most important factor of a tracker is the ability to quickly assess your opponents as the game comes to the last few players, a lethal bit of software in the right hands.
